Nicolae Ratiu will be awarded MBE for his services to disadvantaged groups in Romania. This award recognises the achievements and services of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom. Acknowledging Nicolae Ratiu's important contribution to Romania through The Ratiu Family Charitable Foundation, he will be awarded this distinction earlier next year during an official ceremony. Details to be confirmed soon.
About the Award: Orders of the British Empire (OBE)/ Member of the British Empire (MBE)
King George V created these honours during World War I to reward services to the war effort by civilians at home and servicemen in support positions. The ranks are Commander (CBE), Officer (OBE) and Member (MBE). They are now awarded for prominent national or regional roles and to those making distinguished or notable contributions in their own specific areas of activity. The honour of an MBE, in particular, can be given for achievement or service in the community.
Honours lists are published at New Year and on The Queen’s official birthday in June. The full list can found on the following website: http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/dec/30/-sp-new-years-honours-2015-full-list
