Romanian violinist Bogdan Vacarescu and Shetland-born pianist Neil Georgeson present a classical recital including works by Enescu, Ysaye, Wieniawsky and Sarasate. Bogdan is a disciple of the “old school” of violin playing style promoted by Joseph Joachim and Leopold Auer, and followed by violin masters such as Jascha Heifetz, Jacques Thibaud, George Enescu and others.

Neil Georgeson is from the Shetland Islands. He came to London in 2001 to study piano at the Royal Academy of Music, where he completed a Masters, studying with Patsy Toh, Ian Fountain and Joanna MacGregor. He started piano at the age of 7, teaching himself to play and now enjoys a busy and varied career as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed all over the world (Italy, Spain, Austria, the US, Taiwan etc.) and as a soloist at London venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall as well as on more unconventional platforms including the Glastonbury Festival and the Old Vic Tunnels. He has appeared on the South Bank Show for ITV and performed live on BBC Radio 3. He has premiered hundreds of works by a variety of composers, and has worked with eminent composers on performances of their music, including Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Thomas Ades, Martin Bresnick, Bent Sorenson, Anna Meredith and Jonathan Harvey. Neil is also a writer, librettist, composer and curator, and is Artistic Director of the contemporary music group, the Ossian Ensemble.

Bogdan Vacarescu  -  a virtuoso violinist (The Scotsman)
His repertoire comprises of music that is very close to his heart spanning Baroque to late Romantics including Bach, Beethoven, Paganini, Debussy, Wieniawski, Sarasate. Freedom of expression in the interpretation of music, combined with the elegance of bowing technique are of paramount importance to Bogdan’s approach.
